Best Thing For Miners-NIT?

I'm hoping for a 7 seed and the Final 4, but...

NIT=
1. Miners are pissed off and ready to kick ass next year. Nobody will be safe. This years juniors will become a team full of monster seniors with something to prove. Final 4 here we come.
2. UTEP probably wins NIT.
3. Barbee, Caracter and everybody else stays home.

If we keep winning and get to the the Elite 8, Final 4 or Championship game, some team members may find better jobs next year. If we make the finals, we could have a completely different team next year.

This is an unlikely scenario. Every NCAA bracket prediction model that I've seen has UTEP as the only C-USA team at the dance. After UAB's loss to Memphis on Wednesday, the landscape has changed. The only way there will be 2 C-USA teams at the dance, IMO, is if someone else wins the championship.

I remember that the Bear turned down an NIT bid once because he was confident that his team has earned a berth at the dance. The team stayed home that year without a post-season.

So, if UTEP gets beat early in the C-USA championship and gets ignored by the NCAA and get stuck with the NIT? Would that be a good thing?

well the NIT would be a dissappointment, but it's better than the CBI... I still say they get in the big one.

Yeah, they have a weak OOC, but some of the experts have said their win streak is impressive.

They really need to beat UAB

Sorry going to the NIT in most cases is not a good thing. With the current status of the team, it would fall under the not category. NCAA is in our sights.

We should be going to the Big Dance given that we've won the regular season with ease...

BUT the selection committee doesn't give out NCAA bids based on winning the regular season.

Only on winning the Cusa tournament.

The NIT would be a disappointment... BUT definitely an upgrade over last year's CBI tournament.

I agree with everyone. NCAA for the Miners. It would take a serious stumble for the Miner's to wind up in the NIT. I just wanted to stir things up a little with this thread.

If we can win tomorrow and win the C-USA championship we'll get a decent seed and won't have to take on Kansas or Syracuse in the second round.

A matchup with Kentucky wound be fun.
