I, for one, fucking HATE the name. I flat out refuse to support a professional sports team called the fucking Chihuahuas. Of the five lame-ass names they narrowed it down to, they chose the absolute worst of the bunch. Way to go, guys.
In case the world has forgotten, El Paso is in the state of Texas, in the USA, not in Mexico as seems to be the belief nowadays (and I got it from an inside source that the mascot was, in fact, inspired by the city, not the ankle-biting rat-dog of the same moniker). And before anyone starts attacking me for this post, I want to make it very clear that I'm not racist. I truly am not. I just hate that we as a city are identifying ourselves more and more with our "neighbors from the south" and less with our actual Lone Star State location. (And I have several very close friends who are originally from Mexico and who agree with me wholeheartedly on this). It's no wonder that every other city in Texas refuses to acknowledge our existence.
