This according to today's LA Times...Tim met with AD Pat Haden this week...so much for Tim telling us how much he loves UTEP...if he really loves us he would decline even meeting with them....money talks and shit walks

I agree. Who knows whats really going down? If its harmless, Floyd picked a bad time to do it. Doesn't look for sure yet, but doesn't look good eithet.

My doom and gloom prediction is that Floyd is fucking gone the minute the buzzer sounds on our last game. USC doesn't just want him, they want his awesome recruiting class (the star of which just happens to be from Cali).
I would be shocked and amazed if he's still here in March.
This is the way UTEP basketball dies... not with a bang, but a whimper.

USC asked for permission to talk to him six weeks ago. The three hour conversation took place two weeks ago. The USC AD was in El Paso last night to watch Pastner. I think we are fine.

I think we all know it's just a matter of time before Tim leaves; maybe not now and maybe not to go to USC, but if he puts together a talented roster and takes us to the second round of the NCAA tournament, he'll get an offer he can't refuse.
My beef in all of this speculation is Floyd's refusal to answer the simplest question. After he made the statement that they (USC) didn't offer him a job and he didn't ask for one, the next question he was asked was whether he would definitely be back next year. His response was, "I already answered that question." Well then put our minds to rest and answer it again. It sure seemed as though he was leaving the door open so that if USC does, in fact, actually offer him the coaching job, he could take it and claim that he never said he wouldn't.
I know it's all a bunch of speculation and nobody (including USC and Floyd) knows what will happen in the next few weeks, but I can't shake the feeling that he's just as likely to leave as he is to stay. I hope to heaven I'm wrong.

I think Floyd is just old enough where he might not want to start over again. The crowd on Tuesday for an overall disappointing team was awesome. He is building something here. Hopefully he stays.
