Important win against a very pedestrian Houston team last night, highlighted by the transformation of John Bohannon into a freaking BEAST. Bo had 24 points, 17 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assists, and 2 steals in 34 minutes of action. Lang played very well also, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds, marking the first time in as long as I can remember that we had two players finish with a double-double.
The lowlights were our terrible shooting to begin the game (we were sitting at 22% with 11 minutes left in the first half), but we righted the ship and took control of the game from there. Another cold shooting spell and a few turnovers made the game more interesting than necessary toward the end, but we held on for the 10 point margin of victory.
Another area of concern was the absence of MacKenzie Moore, who was reportedly kicked out of practice for some unknown infraction, and only played a couple of minutes in a game that saw Streeter and Tucker go a combined 0-9 from the field. Luckily, C.J. Cooper and Jalen Ragland came in to hit some big shots when we needed them.
My biggest concern now is with the attitude of some of the players; if Bohannon could keep his damn head on straight and produce like that every night, I'm sure we would have won a few more games this year. Now Moore appears to have taken his spot in the doghouse, just when we need everyone to be on their game for the home stretch. Very annoying...
Anyway, enough rambling. We beat a team we had no business losing to, so that's good; but we need to play MUCH better if we hope to have a shot at knocking off Memphis next week. For now, we look ahead to what should be another easy win at Rice, but we all know what this team is(n't) capable of on the road....
