Hey, Miner fans! Did you miss the latest UTEP Men's basketball road game? Well don't despair... just use this handy dandy template to get a spot-on summary of the game you missed!
SUMMARY:
The UTEP Miners took on the (insert opponent) last night, and despite the Miners shooting a dreadful (insert a # < 30) percent from the field, actually managed to keep the score close going into halftime. The Miners then raced out to a (insert a # between 5 & 10) point lead with just under eight minutes to go in the game; however, after turning the ball over (insert a # > 6) times and going scoreless for the next (insert a # > 5) minutes, the Miners saw the (insert opponent) go on a 12-0 run to take the lead back with two minutes left. The Miners, who were badly out-rebounded yet again, could not manage to regain the lead despite having several chances to do so, including (insert a # > 6) misses from the free throw line. After the game, coach Tim Floyd commented, "We played pretty good defense, but just couldn't seem to hit the big shots when we needed to. Give (insert opponent) credit. They outplayed us when it mattered most."
(END OF SUMMARY)
It's that simple, Miner fans! Just fill in the blanks to have a 100% accurate game summary. It works every time!

I was at the game last night and I was in shock at the 17-14 halftime score. UTEP's offense is pathetic. CJ Copper played really well last night and thats about it. Lang was crap vs the 7'5" dude. I'm still not sure why we didnt bring in Hooper Vint to hack that dude down the stretch. Why would Floyd hold the ball and chuck up a 3 to tie at the end? There was plenty of time to get a quick 2 and foul NMSU and extend the game. Awful.

The better question is why the fuq didn't we foul the 7'5" dude when we were only down by 1 with 25 seconds left? That probably would have essentially been a turnover, or at best a 1-point possession for them. As it turns out, we fouled a decent free throw shooter and found ourselves down by 3.
Then, of course, as MM points out, we panic and jack up a bad 3-point attempt instead of going aggressively to the hole for a quick 2 and THEN perhaps fouling the big man.
I cannot believe I am actually questioning Floyd's decisions, but this isn't the first time this year it appeared that we were out-coached at the end of a game...

Nite to Floyd...stop thinking about what Haskins might do, and do what you know best
