Interesting that Chris Sandle was Utep's first All-American.
He was pretty good but if I use him as the Benchmark... Then I would have thought we might have had several other All-Americans.
I never forget watching Sandle taking over the NCAA playoff game over Arizona in Tucson. What a beast.

I agree. Sandle was a man among boys, but I can think of other Miners who were seemingly worthy of his status...
We've also had talented players that were virtual unknowns in high school (Tim Hardaway), and others who got national recognition but didn't go to the NBA. I remember Brandon Wolfram being selected for the Playboy's All-American Team in 2000, but declining the honor due to his religious beliefs. A great ball player and an even better human being. (But it still would have been pretty damn cool to see him in the magazine!)
