I'm watching the Pens vs Caps right now and I started thinking about UTEPs hockey team. Anyone hear anything?

Not a damn thing. As usual, UTEP's PR department is doing a hell of a job promoting them. And why the ho-hum jerseys? I collect hockey jerseys from all levels, just based on the ones I think have neat designs or badass logos. These UTEP jerseys are about as boring as they could possibly be. I know it's probably because they don't have much of a budget right now, but maybe if the school, oh, I don't know, PROMOTED THEM, people would go to the games and generate some revenue for the team. Then they could get some awesome jerseys with the authentic logos and perhaps sell replicas to fans like myself. Anyway, there's not much on their Facebook page, but here it is if anyone else cares. www.facebook.com/pages/UTEP-Ice-Hockey/217430021649462

Ice Hockey in El Paso... still can't get my head around that concept.
I hope it happens for those that appreciate the game... but it just doesn't seem right way out in the desert.

I still don't understand how the Buzzards failed. They had awesome attendance their first couple of years, didn't think it dropped off that drastically. If the Patriots and Diablos can survive, why couldn't the Buzzards?

Realm-- Hockey in the desert is actually even more of an attraction for those of us who rarely see what happens to water when it gets cold. Just ask the Stanley Cup winning Dallas Stars. The Buzzards were a HUGE success during their brief existence. As MM stated, attendance was great, the games were entertaining as hell, and lots of El Pasoans (myself included) really got into hockey full-time by watching them. I really miss the atmosphere when those playoff games were going on against New Mexico (what was their prick goalie's name again??) and Ft. Worth. Great times... how unfair is it that freakin' Odessa still has a team and we don't....

Martino... that was the name of that prick goalie from the New Mexico Scorpions who used to slash our players as they went by the crease and taunted our crowd whenever possible. Man, it was fun hating him!!
