I might go to one game this season. Haven't decided which one yet. However, tomorrow I will be watching the drubbing from the comfort of my own couch. No way am I going to pay for more expensive tickets and see them turn in their typical lame performance. Add in a lot more people and traffic and the fact I can watch other games during commercials, seals the deal.
So with that being said, who's going?

My Miners played a great game. 8 hours of tailgating and a late game time and I'm still whooped.
Go Miners!!!

I am happy to admit how wrong I was about the Miners' performance against a national powerhouse... but it's extremely disappointing that the upset of the century was actually within our reach and we couldn't quite seal the deal. The defense played amazingly, but too many dropped passes, a black hole where the kicking game should have been, and a very, very, VERY ill-advised fake punt basically gave the game to the Sooners even when they didn't really do anything to earn it.
I know, I know... when you're actually in a game like that you pull out all the stops and try to win. I'm not questioning Price's aggressive approach, but when our defense had been stopping the OK offense all night, why not pin them deep and let the defense keep rolling? Instead, he gives them the best field position they had the whole game, and that was just enough to allow them to ice the game with an easy drive for 6. Even had we made that first down, there was no guarantee we'd have scored, so we should have just kept trying to flip the field and hope for the best. Another very questionable call by Price that may have been the most important of the few factors that led to this loss.
Overall, though, an OUTSTANDING effort by the Miners. This is a bit of crow I will happily digest.

I'm also a bit disappointed of the media's portrayal of the game. The few write-ups and commentaries I watched painted a picture of an Oklahoma team that just played horribly, and very little credit was given to the UTEP defense, which anyone who was watching would know is the reason for OK's offensive struggles. Running back Nathan Jeffrey rightfully got some praise, but as expected, the media attributed the final score to a poor showing by the favorites instead of a hard-fought effort by the underdogs.

I agree. The Miners did play well, but Price managed to screw it up as usual. He should have maybe tried a fake field goal on the first attempt and been done with his tricks for the night. I was impressed with the effort, execution, and especially the tackling. This was the first time in 7 seasons that the defense actually tackled their opponents properly.
With that being said, I still expect this to be the Miners best effort of the season. I think Ole Miss will beat UTEP by 2 or 3 touchdowns this Saturday and if NMSU beats Ohio this weekend, I look for them to come in very confident into our matchup.

Agreed. A fake field goal on their side of the field would have been acceptable.
