Nebraska, Central Michigan, and Pine Bluff. I mean seriously, we can't schedule any other team besides Arkansas Pine Bluff? There's 340 D1 teams, can't we find some other scrub team? Like Nebraska and CMU though.

Utep get's Pine Bluff in the opener. I wish we didn't have to see them at all.  Lowers our SOS. Playing Central Michigan AND Nebraska in the tournament would have just added to our great schedule we have already. |

Strelz, its confirmed we're playing UAPB in the first round.
I hear ya 88 and in most years, you would be right. However, this season, UTEP should have no problem with SOS or RPI. I don't have a problem with playing a SWAC level team in the opener, I do have a problem with it being UAPB. We've played them for like 10 years now and the games are boring blowouts.
There are several other schools we could schedule instead. Why not Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Cal St Bakersfield, Texas-Pan American, Nicholls St, Southern, Alcorn St? Why does Stull ALWAYS have to cram UAPB down our throats? They FUCKING suck!

I agree. Anyone but UAPB would have been better. I will say this though, if we have a record of 18-10 or something like that and we don't get into the dance (Like UAB did a couple years ago over us after dropping the first C-USA tournament game. Or a Penn State team that was around 16-13 or somethin like that.) I will have a major problem with the selection committee.

Apparently SWAC schools get a decent payday when playing on the road. UAPB gives UTEP, and in this case the Sun Bowl Association, a considerable discount.

I think UAPB calls Stull every year asking if we'll give them another check. Stull's name is probably on one of their campus buildings as being their biggest financial supporter.  At least Floyd didn't demand that we play Nebraska in the opening round.... maybe this year we'll have a chance to win our own damn tourney. |

AND we will probably play the opening game on the first night which is totally ridiculous...we should be playing the nightcap so the crowd will not be leaving during the 2nd. game

I agree Strelz. I remember a few years ago, Teicher said on the radio that Haskins wanted to be the first game to get it over with. Maybe Floyd is gonna continue this tradition. The Nebraska v CMU game is the one to watch. Much rather see that than UTEP v UAPB.
