Is UTEP & Bob Stull complete morons or what? Why is the game Sunday afternoon? Not only that, but they are going to honor Nolan Richardson that day. Why the fuck would they do that? I'm not complaining about honoring him, but why that game? The NMSU game is one of the better attended games, why not honor Nolan during the McNeese or Southern games and possibly get a better crowd???
UTEP continues to make stupid decisions and there its no wonder why UTEP is NEVER mentioned as any conferences expansion candidate.

Miners win! Crowd was less than 8,000. Tough game on Wednesday at UNLV.

Great win for the Miners! Took control early, going up 24-7 to start the game. We let them hit a few too many treys, which got them back into the game, and it was a hard-fought battle after that. We held a slim lead through the first 10 minutes or so of the second half, and then let them take a five point lead with about 7 minutes left. But we got control again, took the lead back with about three minutes left, and hit just enough free throws to win it. (Could have put it away much more easily, but we hit only 7 of 17 from the line down the stretch.)
Gabe McCulley was a beast out there. His senior leadership was sorely missed this year, and he really came in and helped the younger guys get on the same page and play together. He had about three stupid turnovers in the second half that led to the nmsu lead, but redeemed himself with some nice plays to finish the game.
I'm still not sold on Jacques Streeter, sad to say... he really made some boneheaded mistakes at key junctures, and couldn't hit a free throw to save his life. But as a whole, we played very well considering the magnitude of the opponent and the long layoff since the last game.
One interesing tidbit... Bohannon didn't play one second of the game. Assistant coach Johnson told Teich during the post-game that there had been quite a bit of trash talking going on before the game (via Twitter, maybe? Bo got himself in trouble once before with that crap) and the coaches decided to sit him, fearing an altercation if he started engaging in any trash talking with the aggies. And boy, did those a-holes ever talk. Kabongawongaweewilliewinky (their butthead guard) hit about five threes, and every time he hit one he was yapping at the crowd, yapping at the student section, yapping in the face of the defender, and pounding his chest (I could have sworn he even grabbed his crotch after one shot, though I'm not 100% certain). Wouldn't have surprised me if something had happened if Bo had been out there, as he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder most of the time...
Anyway, awesome win; in my book, beating those guys at least once makes this a successful season no matter how many games we manage to win from here on out.
