What if those 2 join for football only? BYU stays in WCC for other sports and Boise goes to the Big Sky or something, who cares?
If I were Craig Thompson (MWC Commish), I do the following:
Add: UTEP, UTSA, UNT, NMSU, Utah St, Seattle, Denver, and invite Hawai'i for all sports.
Gives MWC 14 for football, 16 for basketball. Most major TV markets in the west are covered to ensure a pretty good tv contract.
Would give the MWC the following divisions:
East
UTSA
UNT
NMSU
UTEP
Air Force
Colorado State
New Mexico
Denver*
West
UNLV
Hawaii
Utah St
Nevada
Fresno State
San Diego State
Wyoming
Seattle*
This, in my opinion, would be better than staying in CUSA with Rice and Tulsa. If Houston and SMU don't leave to the Big East, then staying in CUSA is what we should do. BYU looks to be taking Air Force's place in the Big East. If AFA would leave as well, shift Wyoming to the East and add San Jose St.
The WAC would be destroyed, not something I care for, but it would be to cool to see these teams under the WAC banner rather than the MWC. Thoughts?
