Are we so desperate for a win that we'll take anything and blow it up beyond proportion?? Obviously so... AND the mindless zombie followers are out to get anyone who thinks differently.
.............Must Eat Realist Brains !!..............
First let me say I didn’t watch any of the game. Everything I know is gleaned from the stats for the game. And the only thing that stands out is that there is a LOT of parity. Everything, of course, excepting the score with Utep winning BIGTIME 44-7.
………….Total Yards…Pass Yds…... Rush Yds…. First Downs.…3rd D%.....Turnovers
Utep ……….390………….124……………266…………….16…….…25.0%...........3
Tulane……. 365………….237……………128…………….16….……35.3%...........4
As Bleed said in another post… Didn’t see that coming.
The game was an Obvious Meltdown for Tulane and Athletic Director Rick Dickson responded by sacking Coach Bob Toledo shortly after the game. Said Dickson: “Over the last weeks and days, Bob had become a lightning rod for criticism and attacks and things we shouldn’t be doing in college athletics. By him stepping down, that is removed.”
In games like this, it is HARD to determine if Utep was that good OR Tulane was that bad. In my point of view the answer is neither… and both.
I look at this game the same way I looked at New Mexico last year under troubled Coach Mike Locksley. Utep beat New Mexico 38-20 and New Mexico looked listless and undisciplined in that game. A total embarrassment for the New Mexico fans that attended the rivalry game.
Player disenchantment, NOT THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES, is the reason New Mexico didn't offer much of a challenge.
Yes, Utep won the game... just not sure how much of it was Utep and how much of it was a listless New Mexico.
Therefore, I’m going to throw this game out… and look to the Colorado State game to see how to gauge the Miner’s improvement.
