Of defense at least. Not too many satisfied customers after the first two home games.

We all knew it would be a track meet, and it was a fun game to watch from an offensive standpoint. Too damn many missed tackles, but I still think all that did was reduce the amount of time it took Houston to score, which may have actually been a good thing because then we had more opportunities to answer the scoring... Overall I thought the defense did a pretty decent job against one of the best offenses in the country. Again, WAY too many whiffed tackles on the big plays, but we had a nice goal-line stand, and did stiffen up enough to give the offense the last possession to try and win the game. And that's what it always seesm to come down to when we play Houston-- the last team to score wins. Overall I thought we did pretty well. In fact, up until Lamaison's final pass hit the turf, I honestly believed we would score and tie it up. (But then I kept telling myself that it would only take Houston about 30 seconds to get into field goal range to win it anyway.) And as crappy as our D looked at times, Houston's looked just as bad. Let's just call it great offense. As pessimistic as I've been, I really enjoyed that game even though we lost. Now if we hadn't turned the ball over two times and spotted them 14 points in a span of 60 seconds, the outcome may have been different, but we kept fighting right up until the end. Kudos to CMP and the team for a pretty good showing on national TV (in my humble opinion).

This was a very, very entertaining game no matter which team you were rooting for.
Couple of breaks and it could have gone either way...
Still, in my opinion... Houston was the best team here.
AND once again, Utep didn't quit. But over 15 of Utep's players are from the Houston area so it mattered to them that they gave their all in this game.
It was very noticeable how empty the Sun Bowl was. In the interview after the game, Price asked Jon how many people were at the game and I noticed Jon didn't answer him.
Now I know why... Price was asking for more than 33K and he got quite a bit less.
I'll be watching the Miners when they play Tulane next to see if these are the typical Miners who play to the level of their competition.

I was at the game, what a disappointing loss. Tired of losing these games.

I hear you, aj. It's always better to win. But I'm glad the team didn't fold up the tents after Houston scored 21 points in a span of two and a half minutes to take the lead. That could easily have deflated them and it could have turned really ugly. Instead, they drove the length of the field to tie it up, and then traded knockout blows with them the rest of the way.
Since you were at the game, I have a question... the commentators said that on the last try for the end zone, Lamaison didn't see the open receivers (once on the left side and once on the right) while trying to fit the ball into the receiver in the middle every time. Was that accurate? If so, that royally sucks that we could have scored and tied it up if he had just seen the other WR's!
