Wow. Just wish all this would stop. Hopefully CUSA doesnt lose Houston, SMU or Tulsa.

I can easily see Houston leaving for a bigger conference. Not sure if the other two have the resumes just yet, but they might go in the package.
No doubt we'll get raided by someone before the dust settles.

Lots of scenarios. If they go to four 16 team BCS conferences, there will be some current BCS schools left out. I am curious what they do and with who.

Pac12 decides not to expand now. The SECs 14th team, cant be announced soon enough. Reports are out there that the Big East is considering Navy and Air Force for football only. That seems like the best play. If not the BEast could scoop up CUSA east schools. Hopefully the BEast and Big 12 resolve everything soon so we can move on.

I hate to say this but I think UTEP will be fine regardless.
Most likely scenario, CUSA goes untouched.
If the BE raids CUSA-East, then Houston, SMU, and UTEP can lateral to the MWC.
I don't see us getting left behind or downgraded.

Well maybe Binks. What if the Big East takes UCF, ECU, and Memphis and the MWC takes Houston and SMU? CUSA would be left with Tulsa, UTEP, Rice, Tulane, UAB, Southern Miss, and Marshall. 7 teams. What would CUSA do then? Pluck Sun Belt and WAC teams?

I think if the dominoes start falling, MWC is going to need (at least) 3 teams when it is all said and done.

BYU, Boise St, Louisville, and West Virginia to the Big 12, Missouri to the SEC, Navy and Air Force to the Big East. What if that happened? Big East would surely try to pick up ECU, UCF, and Memphis. The MWC would be worthless. Do you think any WAC teams would join the MWC then?

If Houston and/or any of CUSA-E moves on, I tend to think the MWC would be a better option. Depends how (and if) it all shakes out.

Jeez... all this insane realignment of the conferences is giving me a headache. I guess all we can do is wait for the dust to settle and see where the Miners wind up...

Looking like Missouri to the SEC now and SMU, yes SMU to the Big East to be TCUs travel partner. Look for Big 12 to add BYU and either Air Force or Boise St. I think UCF will go to the Big East and Navy in football only. Wouldn't be surprised if ECU went to the Big East as well.

What do you think would happen if C-USA gets raided? Will we find second-rate programs to desperately fill in the holes, or is there an outside chance the Miners get a call along with some of the other C-USA leftovers?

IMHO, our biggest concern is if CUSA-E gets raided combined with Houston not getting called up. If that happens, MWC will invite Houston and SMU and we will be left out - again. That is one scenario I didn't see happening initially but is looking more and more possible.

Will we find second-rate programs to desperately fill in the holes, or is there an outside chance the Miners get a call along with some of the other C-USA leftovers? Guess it would depend on what the Big East does. If they take UCF, ECU or Memphis, did they also take Temple? If CUSA loses one team and Temple is available. You invite Temple, hopefully they would leave the A10 and join. Who would be the other teams though? You cant invite Latech because what West team would you send East? UNT would be possible because Tulane could be moved East. Like Binks said, what if the MWC or Big East takes Houston and SMU? Would we want to remain in CUSA with Rice and Tulsa? As posted above if CUSA added LaTech and UNT would we want to remain? If the MWC doesnt want us, I'm 100% positive the WAC would take us back. Wouldnt be ideal, but still would give us an FBS conference. Dont think UTEP could make it as a football independent.

We are stuck like chuck if MWC doesn't lose anyone but CUSA does. I simply hadn't accounted for that. I thought AFA was gone for sure leaving 3 spots open in MWC. Whatever SMU is doing behind the scenes is working. They weren't even talked about very much two weeks ago.

Did you see the article on ESPN that Tulane was mentioned as a Big 12 candidate? Sad thing is I could see it happening!

Now what the hell would Tulane bring to the table that we don't?? Location? It just doesn't make any sense to me that they would get an invite before us... but then again, NONE of this crap makes any sense to me.
(And just to clarify, I'm not throwing stones at you, MinerMan. Just venting about the whole thing.)

Right I agree. No way UTEP should get an invite to a bettet conference after Tulane. I could see the Big 12 adding them to get into SEC territory and to show some people its not all about sports. Tulane is an excellent academic school and is located in New Orleans. With that said, I would say their chances of ending up in the Big 12 is less than 5%.

I'm sure you guys heard by now. West Virginia will be accepted into the Big 12. Missouri is expected to leave, if they dont then they will have 11 teams. Who would be number 12?
