If I had God like powers and could choose... Would I take the two loses and trade them for the Memphis win??
Numerically this makes sense... BUT realistically, beating Memphis this bad put a LOT OF CONFIDENCE back in the Miner psyche.
Now if we can just sustain that confidence going into the tourney.

That was about as dominant a defensive performance as I've seen since the Bear prowled the sidelines. As hot and cold as our shooting was all night, we won that game on the defensive end. All the credit in the world to the planning of the coaches and especially the amazing effort of the players.
I kind of agree with you Realm... this win could mean more to us than the two losses. That being said, though, it sure would be nice to be tied for first right now. If we had lost EITHER the UCF game OR the ECU game, that could have been looked at as a wakeup call. As it is now, though, losing both could prove to be our death knell if we don't finish top 4 and get that much-needed bye to start the tournament.
One thing I didn't care for, just from a basketball point of view, was the slight taunting of Memphis by the crowd (chanting "start the bus" and singing "Hey, Hey, Goodbye" in the final couple of minutes) and the players, who were still fast-breaking and taking wild shots instead of just holding the ball and burning clock. Don't get me wrong, I understand that the fans were happy at the outcome, and the bench players who were in just wanted to get in the books and score a rare basket, but we have to look down the road. We could very well turn right around and play these guys again; no need to add insult to injury after we demolished them on the scoreboard.
We've stumbled, regained our balance, stumbled again, and once again got our footing back. But it means absolutely NOTHING if we don't come out with that same intensity for the next two games and finish the way everyone thought we would a month ago. Beat Marshall, beat SMU, and then we can start talking about the possibility of making a run in the tournament.

still it wasn't a sell-out...I like that TF knows that a full house is the number I created on the opening night of the then called special events center---12,222...it even sounds good!
