Tell me WHY you think Utep will beat Memphis.
I think Memphis will win because they've beaten us EVERYTIME we've played.
I use History to help me gauge what the outcome will be.
Remember back a couple of years ago at the Sun Bowl when Memphis was 0-11 and Utep was 5-6 and had representatives from a Bowl ready to hand Utep an invite if they won... and Utep blew it big time.
We are just too thin in the ranks to play a physical game.
With every physical game...Even if Utep should win... Utep will continue to rack up the injuries that will have a detrimental effect on our ability to win future games.
You're better than this Shy... when you make a prediction like this... tell US why you believe Utep will win.

Realm... Shy is like many other cheerleaders where they give no reasons why UTEP will win, just that they will win. It wouldn't surprise me if UTEP both blows out Memphis or loses the game in the 4th quarter. UTEP should beat Memphis, and I think they will. If UTEP loses, it will be because of Mike Price's poor coaching decisions. |

On Defense... The Miners played intelligent and solid defense. They kept Memphis in front of them and were able to use good tackling technique. I saw the Memphis RB Jerrell Rhodes running to the left of his line with no Miner in sight when all of a sudden... Jamie Irving shoots through the line and nails him. ALL OF US AT THE BAR TABLE WERE GIVING EACH OTHER HIGH 5s ON THAT PLAY !! OUTSTANDING.
On Offense... Not that good but good enough to eek out a win when their backs were against the wall. Vittatoe threw in back of his receivers a lot... a lot of passes were dropped by the receivers. Dakota Warren was a mixture of GREAT and not so great. FOUR TIMES, Memphis was able to keep Utep from scoring from the 1 - 2 yard line. BUT TO THEIR CREDIT the Miners were able to focus on the last drive of the game to snatch the lead for the first time on the very last play.
On Sunday when I went shooting in the desert... I asked those shooters who were at the Sun Bowl what their feelings were about the game... and pretty much they didn't feel that great about the game. But an UGLY WIN beats a poke in the eye... don't it??
Let me caution the cheerleaders NOT to make too much of this game... even against a Memphis team with problems of its own... it took a last second play to get the win.
