What a pathetic slate. Western New Mexico, Sam Houston St, and Air Force. No even a real tournament. UTEP will be playing WNMU one night and AFA the next. UTEP already plays SHSU on 1/2. When Air Force is the "marquee" team, you know its time to get rid of it completely.
UTEP just doesn't get it. They better start before its too late.

It could be that Utep is having difficulty finding quality teams willing to come down to a hostile environment and try to eek out a win...
I imagine the Don has a reputation that is known nation-wide.
And if that is the case... then I would strongly agree with MinerMan that it is time to shut this "Classic" down...
Real shame because there is a lot of GREAT HISTORY there...
I bet strelz would have no problem remembering them...

Does UTEP have anything to do with the Tournament other than playing in it? And of course using the The Don for it.

While they don't have full control of it, I'm sure they have say in who or what kind of teams they want to play. If Kentucky, North Carolina, and UCLA all agreed to play in it, I'm sure UTEP would turn it down because they might lose. |
