elpasotimes.typepad.com/utepsports/2010/04/big-ten-rumor-i-hope-not-true.htmlHe shares his thoughts on the Big Ten possibly going to 14. It doesn't matter what any of the big 6 conferences do, nobody wants UTEP. The MWC doesn't want UTEP and even if they did UTEP would be stupid enough to remain with the Texas schools that most people don't give a fuck about. Recruiting more Texas kids hasn't done shit for UTEP. All the good players go to UT, OU, any other Big 12 & 10 school, or TCU. UTEP football sucks because they wanted to recruit Texas more. The MWC is light years ahead of CUSA in football and is an all-around better basketball conference. They get more bids every fucking year! CUSA is lucky to get 2 bids in any year.

I don't think UTEP would choose to stay with CUSA if MWC offered us an invitation. I know we don't agree on this but I am glad UTEP chose CUSA over the current WAC. I know we differ on this but I would be content if UTEP stayed in the current CUSA. The problem with this is that any of the CUSA-E teams would bolt at the first given chance. The MWC, even minus Utah and BYU, is a more stable conference than the current CUSA where all the east teams are desperate to bail. I like CUSA but I have to realize that ECU, Memphis, and UCF are probably not going to stick around if they have any opportunity to upgrade.

The expansion has been rumored for quite a long time now.
Realm is sure that plenty of telephone calls have taken place already for "what-if" scenarios...
Decisions have already pretty much been made.
We'll find out about it when the Mucky-Mucks think we're ready for it.

I wouldn't say ESPN is reporting it, just Colin Cowherd. No credible news sources have picked up on this. Maybe he has a scoop, but it doesn't seem like it as of now.

Realm stands corrected...
