I continue to make observations based upon Barbee leaving Utep for Auburn.
BEFORE... you believed that Barbee had developed after assuming the coaching position for 4 years...
NOW... you'll admit he can recruit BUT he can't coach worth beans.

NOW... you'll admit that was against Cusa-Lite competition.

BEFORE... you attributed all kinds of wondrous things to Butler just because we played themFrom TrooperDooperJoe:

(30-5) Syracuse 59
(29-8) Kansas St. 56
As bad as we think we did, we did better or as well as any of the other teams they played. Don't forget they got hot from 3 pt. range.

Hmmm... I realize one of the reasons cheerleaders cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once the hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain.
So here is the scorecard:
A) Barbee out. Coach Floyd in. +1
B) Price still here. -1
Don't hate on Realm... he's only the messenger...

Between cheerleaderss and realist, I fall on the cheerleader side of things. No biggie. As this forum has proved, we don't have to agree or see things the same to get along.
As far as Barbee as a coach, I still feel both statements are true. Barbee was definitely better in year 4 than he was in year 1. He had developed as a coach. Was he a great coach by year 4? No - but he had definitely developed.
I still think the 2009-10 team was a special team that simply self destructed and imploded at the very end. Bad timing. I rather have gone 13-3 or 12-4 but played our best ball at the end. I don't know if our "best ball" would have beaten Butler but it could not have done worse than the squad that did show up.
I can acknowledge most of the points made by realists. I might disagree with some though. Again, no biggie. We all think and feel and act differently. I am blindly loyal to UTEP. Sure, I want them to be smart, make the right choices, and succeed. But I will still be there to support Price, any 1-10 football team, etc. A realist might disagree with that.
Its good to have this dialogue.

But it just seemed to me like Digs and the Den had its anal personalities that couldn't stand to have this kind of dialog anywhere.

I see no problem with your post... or your opinions(heck, there are moments when I would agree with you)... I am NOT threatened or moved to anger...
I don't understand the people who are... and I will dig in my heels to defend my right to state my opinion.
Sounds fair to me...

what I find funny, is that the majority of the threads on this board are about the other boards and the "cheerleaders" thank GOD i'm not a cheerleader, nor a realist... they both suck... Realm you should join me in the 3rd party. we shall be called "fans"  |

You'll remember we became famous for our stinging observations WHILE we were in Digs and the Den... much to the chagrin of the cheerleaders and mods... AND WE CONTINUE to engage in one of our favorite sports.
Dimwit Cheerleader bashing...
I'm with MinerMan in his observations of the timing of Kyyote writing a column in Digs.
Strange Bedfellows...
1) Fast Eddy slams any linking in Digs to MinerIllustrated... but he looks the other way with regards to Kyyote and the Den.
2) Fast Eddy adopts banishment and editing of posts
3) Fast Eddy creates SmackBoard and moves my "Thug" post there... and that forces Realm to stop posting.
4) Kyyote starts to write for Digs
One can't help but notice the timing of it all. Shy?? Anything you care to add?? Are you surprised at Fast Eddy's actions??
In regards to the Realists... I like to think where one door shuts... another opens.
The Realists have found a new home... thanks to the work of MinerMan... and we are attempting to start something new... hopefully, something better.
While the number of posters on our board suck... I am impressed at all the posts that have been written so far. Hopefully, that will encourage other posters to join up and express their thoughts as well.
Mr. Mista, strelz, Doug in Austin, UncleDoug, utepcips, utepgrad2007, MinerMan, and yourself make for a GREAT start.
Realists are the little guys who have been pushed aside by the BIG BOYS... but that doesn't mean we're going away.  |
