Basically in it, he said that the community did not support Barbee and he only got big crowds for the CBI and when they were winning.
Uh, when doesn't that happen in El Paso? How many people showed up for Billy's first season? What about Doc's last season? What about most of the non-conference games every fucking year? What about Haskins last seasons? It's all the same! El Paso only supports winners. There might be a good attendance bump next year if we hire TF or BG, but when they have a .500 season, the same 6,000 or 7,000 people will be there.
UTEP is lucky it gets the attendance it does, but the coach has nothing to do with the attendance, its all about the opposing team and UTEP's record. CUSA has ZERO rivalries and having a mediocre record will always keep the bandwagoners from attending games!

I disagree with minerman...having been in and around the basketball program for 42 years at utep...an outspoken fan friendly coach will increase attendance (not to a sell-out)...when a coach plays ball with the media he or she will get more free time on the tv and radio side.

Theus had it right when he said El Paso is a bunch of front runners. I love El Paso but the casual fan supports Texas, Notre Dame, USC, etc.
