Apparently Marty Mornhinweg was on campus last week and met with Bob Stull for 6 hours. He coached here as a Grad Assistant in the late 80s. He coached the Lions and was awful. What do you guys think? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marty_Mornhinweg

I wouldn't expect things to get serious until Utep calls in a professional consulting company to do a nation-wide search for a coach.
They will have a list of all the tangibles that Utep is looking for... and the ability to quietly contact people and gauge their interest.
The speculation will be intense once they've identified the candidates.

I don't know much at all about Mornhinweg, but any ties to Detroit don't sound like a ringing endorsement...
Seems to me one of two things will happen here at Stepping Stone University: a) we hire another lame duck who doesn't do much to improve things, and keep him around too long before dumping him and starting over, or b) we actually make a splash and hire a quality coach, who takes us to a bowl game and then bails for the next offer he gets.
Either way. my enthusiasm for Miner football is definitely down.

We'll see what they do. I don't mind a re-tread, but hopefully its a younger one. I would prefer a young assistant. Someone from Texas A&M or Oregon's staff would do just fine here.

First things first Marty never came on a visit to El Paso. The media makes up these rumors to get people and fans buzzing. No big name canidates are gonna leave better paying jobs to come to El Paso when jobs like, Kentucky, Cal, and Arkansas to name a few are still open.

Thanks for joining Fan92. I heard that on KROD. I never post rumors out of left field. I figure they're a pretty good source. I don't expect the next coach to be NFL material, but we'll see.
