I went to the game last night and I was really impressed. It was just ORU, but I thought the Miners played a great 2nd half. I hope ORU wins their league, so it will look like a good win later in the year. The uniforms were cool and I wish UTEP would sell them. Pretty good crowd, could be better, but can't complain.
BurritoMan is back, which is good. I don't really care for the videos they played during timeouts, but at least they're trying. Chris Washburn is going to be a stud, very impressed. His bro shot like shit, but it didn't hurt us. Impressed with Ragland. No wonder Perez and Campbell bounced. This team could give Arizona a run on Thursday, hope they do.

I too was at the game last night. I thought they did a great job against ORU. I just wish that they wouldn't play commercials after UTEP gets a big run. It quiets the crowd, who was really into the game, and to me lowers momentum. I think they should let the band play a lot more. They played some really cool new songs last night. Really digged the song Word Up

Like UtepChunks on the other board.... Realm expected a win here. Especially since we're playing at home with all the advantages that entails.
Next week's game vs Arizona in Tucson will garner MORE of my attention.
It was great to see more fan turnout and vocal support. This should let Timmy know we're all backing him and his efforts to put basketball back on the map in El Paso.
I will make an effort to be at the game in Tucson next Thursday since I live so close by in Phoenix.

I thought it was a quality. It was a statement. At this point, being the 12th youngest team in the nation, and only beginning Coach's second year of rebuilding (yes, I know this is his third year), I am ecstatic with the win.
Oral Roberts was a quality team. I understand they lost a few key players from last year but they are a "name" basketball school. I really liked that choice for our home opener. Sure, they are not an ACC or Big East school but still a good opponent.
My expectation are still on the low end this year. I'm hoping for 20 wins. I think the rebuilding continues next year. A lot of quality freshmen coming in. It's going to be a really fun ride.

It all depends how we play against Zona, UNLV, etc. If we lose all our big games, 20 wins will be out of reach. I think we will do well in conference play because CUSA sucks.

Great game against ORU! And I agree, Chris Washburn will be a STUD.
As for this season, I just hope we can stay close against the big name programs, and maybe even pull of an upset or two. As for CUSA, we should be near the top; I'd love to kick the crap out of Memphis a couple more times before they bail on us.
