So I wasn't able to watch the Utep - Tulsa game.
In my book, Tulsa & UAB are tough places to win because of the hometown officiating...
But it appeared that Utep played another sub-par game... And once again ... they almost won.
Even when Utep loses... You get the feeling they take something positive from it to help them play the next game.
I would be interested in other poster's impressions of the game as you saw it.

watched it...4 miners with 4 fouls each going into the final 3 minutes...too many poor officials in cusa...home teams get the benefit of the calls down the stretch...miners were lousy in the paint, didn't defend the "3" but they were in it and led with less than 15 seconds and deserved the win

I only saw the second half, but from what I've heard the officiating was definitely one-sided. Why is it that as far back as I can remember, Tulsa always seems to own the officials no matter where they play? I don't understand it... why do they get such ridiculous respect from the zebras every single night? Even more than Memphis, it seems!
To add salt to the wound, Steve Yellen asked Coach Floyd about something interesting in the post-game show. Apparently, Tulsa was whistled for a technical foul for hanging on the rim in the first half. We shot the free throws, but for some reason the technical was NOT counted as a personal or a team foul (which it should have been). A few plays later, Christian Polk was fouled on the floor and we inbounded the ball and failed to score on the possession. BUT-- had the earlier tech been assessed to the Tulsa player (and the team), the foul on Polk would have put us in the bonus, and Polk likely would have hit two free throws. That's two more points on the board for UTEP... who lost by one. Floyd's response was, "I'm glad you pointed that out, because I'm not allowed to." Point made.
That being said, you gotta hand it to Justin Hurtt-- the guy can shoot. Randy Culpepper played excellent defense on that last shot, and Hurtt nailed it anyway. Damn shame, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
The one thing that hurt me the most was Julyan Stone's decision on that last desperate possession right at the end to kick the ball back out for an off-balanced three by Polk, when Stone had driven all the way into the paint. Why the hell he didn't shoot it, I cannot fathom. You could tell Polk wasn't even ready to shoot, probably thinking Stone would take it himself and maybe gotten a foul call. Just didn't make sense to me to get that close to the rim and then throw it back outside when we only needed two points to win...
